80% Reduction in Deaths due to Corona in China is a Record
The number of daily deaths due to Covid-19 in China has decreased by almost 80% compared to the beginning of this month.
“AFP”, Chinese officials said that this is an indication that the increase in infections in the country has started to decrease. Last month, China abruptly ended its zero-covid policy, which led to a sharp rise in the number of corona cases inChinaTacklesCOVID19, the world's most populous country.
According to the report, Beijing’s figures are believed to represent only a fraction of the actual cases. China’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said last week that between January 9 and 12, nearly 13,000 people had died due to the coronavirus, while earlier it was announced that only more than a month had passed. Around 60,000 people died in hospitals.
According to recent announcements by the local government and media reports, the wave of Corona has started to subside after reaching its peak in late December and early January, during which hospitals and crematoriums were overcrowded. About 896 people infected with the coronavirus died in hospitals on Monday, representing a 79 percent decrease from Jan. 4, the CDC said. The number of critically ill patients in hospitals also fell to 36,000, a 72 percent decrease from 128,000 recorded on January 5, the CDC said.
State broadcaster CCTV, citing officials, reported that as of January 24, around 664 million people traveled across the country during the Lunar New Year.
