Complete overview of CAT 2024 analysis

The pattern of CAT 2024 is expected to be very similar to that of CAT 2023. However, based on the trends in the past, the notification for CAT 2024 was issued on July 28th, 2024, and this year's exam will be held on the last Sunday of November, i.e., November 24th, 2024. Thus, it's high time aspirants started gearing up with CAT preparation to get into their dream B-schools.

This year, the CAT 2024 examination is being conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management, IIM Bangalore. The CAT 2024 examination will be carried out in 3 slots. The CAT test can be termed as a ticket to one of India's top MBA institutes- the IIMs- and other prestigious business schools. Candidates wanting to pursue various management courses at an MBA college must have qualified records in the CAT exam to build a name for themselves.   •  The 120 minutes paper had equal sectional timing for all the 3 sections i.e. 40 minutes. The total number of questions was 66 this year. 

  • In this year, in the LRDI section, there were four(4) sets. Each question had 5 questions. There was no Data Interpretation (DI) this year.

  • 3 marks for every correct and 1 negative mark for every wrong choice.

  • The overall difficulty level for the CAT 2024 Slot 1 test was Moderate.

CAT Exam Analysis 2023 - CAT 2023 Difficulty Level

The overall difficulty level of CAT 2023 was higher compared to CAT 2022. The pattern of the examination was similar to that of CAT 2022, with 66 questions to be marked in 120 minutes. The distribution of questions across all the sections also remained the same: VARC-24 questions, DILR-20 questions, and QA-22 questions. Each section had to be attempted in 40 minutes.

Among the 3 slots, there was only a marginal difference in the level of difficulty.

DILR was the most complicated part of CAT 2023 and the easiest was VARC. Ideally, a CAT Exam score of 84 was need to get a 99%ile in CAT 2023.
