Arooj Aftab will become the first Pakistani to perform at the Grammy ceremony
Singer Arooj Aftab, who has been nominated for the highest music award ‘Grammy’ for the second year in a row, will also become the first Pakistani singer to perform at the awards ceremony.
Arooj Aftab became the first Pakistani-origin singer to win a Grammy in 2022 and this year she has been nominated for a Grammy once again. Thus, Arooj Aftab also became the first singer to be nominated for Grammy Awards for two consecutive years. She confirmed in her Instagram post that she will be seen performing at the Grammy Awards ceremony and she said that she will be performing live at the ‘Premier Grammy Awards Ceremony’, which will be held a few hours before the awards ceremony.
Expressing her happiness at getting the opportunity to perform at the Grammy Awards ceremony, she said that she is eagerly waiting for the event. Arooj Aftab told fans that she will be seen performing ‘Adhiro Naa’ along with fellow singer Anushka Shankar at the event. Interestingly, the song on which Arooj Aftab will perform at the event has also been nominated for an award this year.
Thus, while for the first time, a Pakistani singer will be seen performing at the Grammy ceremony, for the first time an Urdu language song will also be performed at the ceremony. Arooj Aftab said that she will be performing with her fellow singer at the Grammy ceremony on February 5 and people will be able to watch her perform live on Grammy’s social media accounts.
Keep in mind that the Grammy Awards ceremony will be held in February next month and the organization has announced nominations in a total of 91 categories for the 2023 Grammy Awards. Beyoncé has received the most nominations this year, with nine in all major categories. Beyoncé's total number of nominations at the Musical Awards has now reached 88 after receiving 9 this year. Adele and Kendrick Lamar have also been nominated in multiple categories.
Arooj Aftab and his co-singer Anushka Shankar have been nominated in the ‘Best Global Music Performance’ category for ‘Adhiro Na’.
