Lay’s Just Launched 3 New Unique Flavors—Here’s Our Verdict
Lay’s is opening up a new world of flavor for Filipinos with three new variants of its well-loved potato chips, each inspired by the unique and exciting tastes of Mexico, the USA, and South Korea! Lay’s Philippines formally launched its new snacks at the Trinoma Activity Center on August 4 with plenty of activity booths that transported guests to these three countries to jive with Mariachi dancers, challenge the mechanical bull ride, and strike a pose with Kpop idols, while also sampling the limited edition flavors: Zesty Chili Lime, Tangy Tomato Ketchup, and Spicy Gochujang. We were among the lucky ones to try these flavors first, and here’s our verdict: The Lay’s Chili Lime is indeed like a fiesta in your mouth. The tangy citrus pairs so well with the subtle heat from the spices, creating a harmonious balance that leaves you craving more after every bite. The flavor is so bright and refreshing, and it’s definitely our favorite among the three! Meanwhile, Lay’s Tomato Ketchup, inspired by backyard barbeques in the USA, delivers a mix of sweet and tangy notes in a crisp potato chip, just like if you had dipped a plain one into tomato ketchup sauce–only better! There is a sense of familiarity and comfort with this new flavor, and no doubt this will be a crowd favorite. Lastly, Lay’s Spicy brings the vibrant signature flavor of Korea into one bag. This snack is definitely for the more adventurous people who will enjoy its deep, fiery savoriness that leaves a lingering warmth on the tongue. What’s cool about this variant is that it isn’t your usual Lay’s crunch as its chips come in a ridged texture filled with that spicy flavor! When asked what the reason behind choosing these extraordinary flavors was, Lay’s Marketing Manager Rachelle Virata said: “As a globally celebrated brand, Lay’s consistently offers a diverse palette of flavors, and that is something we wanted to leverage on. At the same time, we also want to introduce new flavors that seamlessly align with the Filipino taste preferences yet remain novel.” Celebrity ambassadors Maymay Entrata and Pia Wurtzbach also graced the event to share just how much they love these exciting limited-edition snacks. “I felt that it was about time that we did something like this,” said Pia. “Lay’s came up with a new flavor and it represents a certain country and you’re transported to that place. I love the concept and I wish in the future that they would launch more flavors!” “Ang maganda po kasi lalo na para sa mga taong ‘di pa nakakapunta sa Korea, sa Mexico, o kaya sa USA, nagbibigay po ng idea kumbaga kung ano ‘yung patok na panlasa ng bawat country kaya nakakatuwa,” added Maymay. Event attendees didn’t just get to bring home these new Lay’s potato chips but also a couple of travel essentials–a personalized neck pillow and a power bank–so they can bring Lay’s with them on their future revenge travels. Best-dressed guests who slayed in their airport outfits also received additional prizes! Lay’s new variants not only taste great but also bring the flavor and culture of different countries right to your fingertips. They are the perfect companions to bring along in your “revenge travel” era, to break the boredom and satisfy your snack cravings wherever you are around the world! And guess what: Lay’s offers its new flavors and original variants in two sizes! All flavors come in their big 170g sizes, while Lay’s Spicy and Lay’s Tomato Ketchup are also available in 50g sizes for your on-the-go convenience. Lay’s Tomato Ketchup, Lay’s Spicy, and Lay’s Chili Lime, along with Lay’s original flavors are available in leading supermarkets nationwide, as well as on Shopee and Lazada.
