During the Inter-Governmental Commission (IGC) talks in Islamabad, an agreement was reached. The eighth meeting, which lasted for three days, evaluated areas of cooperation and investigated methods for discovering new possibilities to enhance bilateral relations.
It has been reported that Russia has agreed to assist Pakistan in obtaining energy from alternative sources, and will also work with Pakistan to explore natural gas in the country. The two countries also agreed to conduct transactions using their local currencies, and both customs departments will sign an agreement to prevent the smuggling of goods. During the visit, experts from both countries held technical sessions and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in trade and investment, agriculture, energy, industry, education, science and technology, information and communication technologies, finance, customs, communication, as well as transportation, postal service, and railways. The delegation also suggested that Pakistan take advantage of Russia's expertise in the field of science and technology and research.
