Applying for a visa? A Migration Agents Brisbane can assist you in understanding the process and professionally guide you through it.

Why you need to plan carefully when applying for an Australian visa

Each visa has its own conditions and rules for eligibility and documentation. Your occupation, qualifications, work experience, relationship, financial circumstances, English ability and previous immigration history may all be relevant to determining which pathway is suitable for you.

It can be helpful to speak to a professional migration adviser who can assess your situation and give you an idea of your options before you apply.

Instead of picking a visa because it looks good online, you should think about whether you qualify for the visa and if the pathway is good for your longer term goals in Australia.

Selecting the Right Migration Path

There is not one Australian visa that suits all. There are several different paths you could take, depending on your circumstances.

Skilled Migration:

Skilled migration is an option for skilled professionals and tradespeople who have the skills and experience to fill the jobs that Australia needs.

Common skilled migration pathways include visas such as 189, 190 and 491 subclass. The process can include skills assessments, English-language requirements, points calculations, Expressions of Interest and state or territory nomination.

Eligibility and invitation criteria can vary, so it’s important to plan carefully.

Partner/Family Visas

If you have a spouse, de facto partner or eligible family member in Australia, there may be a family migration pathway available.

There can be a lot of evidence required to prove a genuine relationship for partner visa applications. If you arrange the evidence of the relationship properly and know the requirements, you can help make your application stronger.

Student & Graduate Visas

Australia continues to be a popular destination for international students. But choosing a course should be more than just choosing a qualification.

Students could consider how their education fits into their wider career and migration plans. Education and migration planning can therefore be combined where appropriate.

Employer-Sponsored Visas

Eligible overseas workers can be sponsored by Australian employers under the available employer-sponsored pathways.

Preparation is especially important since these applications may involve both the employer and the employee. Businesses may be required to meet sponsorship and nomination requirements and applicants must meet the relevant visa requirements.

What If Your Visa Has Already Been Denied?

A visa refusal doesn’t necessarily mean the end of your Australian migration journey.

Depending on your circumstances and the decision, your options may include the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART), a new visa application, a response to Department correspondence or another legal pathway if you are unhappy with the decision.

Still deadlines can be important. The first step is to understand exactly why the application was refused and whether there is a review or alternative pathway.

The Education Embassy can help with complex issues such as visa refusal, cancellation, ART appeal, Section 48 issues, waiver and Federal Circuit Court issues. Its website says its team includes registered migration agents and an immigration lawyer.
