These creams are used for many purposes like they can be an effective way to kill cancer cells on or near the skin's surface. There are also creams to apply on the skin area affected by cancer to prevent surgery and stop and kill the cancer cells without surgery (mostly used in the earliest stage or initial days after the skin cancer diagnoses). There are also some skin cancer creams that are made to apply on the affected skin area after the surgery in order to prevent regeneration of cancer cells and also to fasten the recovery and healing of the skin and wound.
What are the Best Creams to Use to Treat Skin Cancer?
There are two types of skin cream majorly used in skin cancer treatment– chemotherapy creams and immunotherapy creams. Here are some of these creams examples, that are most known for their effective results and mostly prescribed by doctors:-
Imiquimod (Aldara, Zyclara)
It is a type of immunotherapy skin cancer cream. The basic princi[ple of this cream is stimulating the immune system to fight the skin cancer cells and destroy them. The cream works best for the basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) skin cancer type.
5-fluorouracil (5-FU, Efudex, Actikerall)
It is a chemotherapy skin cancer cream. Its basic use includes detecting presence, inhibiting growth and destroying the cells that form cancer on the skin. It is usually used to treat low-risk BCCs, precancerous conditions like actinic keratosis, etc.
Diclofenac gel (Solaraze)
It is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) cream. It is used to treat skin conditions like keratosis including Actinic keratosis, Keratosis pilaris, Seborrheic keratosis. Keratosis is generally a precancerous condition and a cream is used to stop or inhibit the formation of cancer, as keratosis sometimes indicates cancer development on the skin.
Tirbanibulin (Klisuri)
It is a chemotherapy cream that is used to treat actinic keratosis.
