The biggest renewable energy projects in 2024

There is no question that the renewable energy products industry is booming day by day with millions around the world purchasing the best solar products for home, businesses and facilities. Top renewable energy companies in USA have seen some if the most significant revenues in the past few years. This has pushed companies and countries to invest more in this sector and thus begin planning for some big ventures that will shift the whole dynamics of the renewable section.

2024-2025 will be an excellent year for large-scale solar installations. Among these new power plants and facility renovations, the United States, India, and China will witness some of the greatest solar ventures ever undertaken. According to a recent analysis, the International Energy Agency (IEA) predicts that worldwide solar output will reach over 310 GW by 2024, owing to decreased module prices, increased popularity of distributed PV systems, and a regulatory drive for large-scale deployment.Today, we will take a look at some of the biggest renewable energy projects that are under construction or starting up soon.

1. DOGGER BANK WIND FARM

Our first pick on our list of top renewable energy projects is the Dogger Bank Wind Farm, the world's largest offshore wind energy project currently under development. The offshore wind farm situated 130 km to 190 km off the North East coast of England is anticipated to be finished by 2026. It will create 3.6 GW of electricity sufficient to power six million households in the UK.Dogger Bank Wind Farm is being created by a consortium of SSE Renewables (40%), Equinor (40%), and Vårgrønn (20%), with a total investment of £9 billion. The Dogger Bank Wind Farm is divided into three developmental stages: A, B, and C. Every one of the 277 wind turbines is about twice the height of the London Eye, and its blades for each turbine (107m long) are almost twice the width of the Angel of the North.

According to SSE Renewables, around 3,000 wind energy jobs have been generated in the UK to help with the green energy project's development and operations. GE Renewable Energy also projected that the three phases of the Dogger Bank Wind Farm produced 470 green employment, including 300 skilled construction roles and 120 maintenance jobs under GE's five-year Service and Warranty Agreements with Dogger Bank for phases A, B, and C.

2.
CD SOLAR PROJECT

On July 9, 2021, EDF Renewables Development, Inc. filed with the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada for the planned CD Solar Project, which would be constructed on roughly 18,000 acres of BLM-managed property in Esmeralda and Nye Counties, Nevada. The project includes a 2,000 MW solar and 1,000 MW battery storage complex. The project will feature a 230-kV or 525-kV transmission line, as well as various ancillary infrastructure. Construction is ongoing and expected to take 24 months to finish. According to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory's (NREL) 2021 Annual Technology Baseline (ATB) statistics, co-located energy storage costs $1,136 per kW. Based on this figure, FirmoGraphics forecasts that the CD Solar project will cost around $3.3 billion.

3.
BALTIC POWER OFFSHORE WIND FARM

The Baltic Power Offshore Wind Farm, a joint project between the ORLEN Group and Northland Power, is expected to transform Poland's energy industry and add to the nation's commitment to sustainable energy. With a heavy emphasis on sustainability and carbon reduction, the Baltic Power project seeks to offer clean energy to approximately 1.5 million homes by 2026.

The ORLEN Group, a significant energy firm in Central Europe, has set an ambitious goal of achieving 9 GW of installed renewable energy capacity by 2030. The Baltic Power Offshore Wind Farm is critical to this strategy and represents a significant milestone in Poland's energy transformation.

To make the Baltic Power Offshore Wind Farm operational, the ORLEN Group and Northland Power have signed credit facility contracts with a consortium of 25 Polish and foreign financial institutions. This monetary support reflects market confidence in the project and its ability to alter Poland's energy sector. With an estimated expenditure of EUR 4.73 billion, the venture is well on its way to obtaining the required funds for its development and operation.

4.
OAK RUN SOLAR PROJECT

Oak Run Solar Project, LLC intends to build the projected Oak Run Solar Project in Ohio. The initiative is a large-scale solar energy venture created on 10,000 acres of land north of London, near Plumwood in Madison County. The project is anticipated to generate up to 800 MW of renewable power. It will also incorporate a battery-based energy storage system (BESS) capable of storing up to 300 MW. The construction has already begun, at an anticipated cost of $1 billion.

5.
PELICAN JAW HYBRID SOLAR

Pelicans Jaw Solar, LLC plans to build and operate the Pelicans Jaw Hybrid Solar Project on 3,943 acres in Kern County, California. The endeavor is a 500-MW solar complex with a Battery electricity Storage System (BESS) that can store roughly 2,000 MWh of electricity. It will also contain a 230-kV generation-tie transmission line that connects the project's on-site substation to Pacific Gas and Electric's planned on-site switching station. Finally, it will feature a substation that will serve as the collecting system's ending point for 34.5 kV alternating current power. The development is scheduled to be finished in December 2024. According to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory's 2021 Annual Technology Baseline (ATB), solar installations will cost $1,623/kW.

6.
YELLOW PINE SOLAR PROJECT

The Yellow Pine solar project is one of the most recent renewable energy projects in the United States, and it deserves to be included in our top renewable energy project list. Yellow Pine Solar, a division of NextEra Energy Resources, the world's largest generator of wind and solar energy, is developing the project in Clark County, Nevada, United States. The project promises to generate 500 MW of sustainable energy to power 100,000 dwellings.

The Yellow Pine Solar Project, which received a $400 million investment, is estimated to produce over 300 construction jobs and reduce almost 500,000 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions yearly. Furthermore, the project is estimated to generate $23 million in tax income for Clark County, which will go towards schools and local services.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

As the world moves towards a cleaner energy future, these renewable energy projects will play an important role in decreasing our dependence on fossil fuels and mitigating climate change. The six renewable energy initiatives covered in this article are just a small sample of the innovations taking place throughout the world. The world is day by day converting to renewable energy products and trying to use renewable energy sources for every little to big task. Top renewable energy companies in USA and worldwide are striving to create some of the best renewable energy products to cater the growing demands. This has opened up new potentials and opportunities in the best solar products for home and business sector.
