Top Local Fashion Brands for Every Style and Occasion

Singapore has a richer fashion scene than many people realise. We now have dozens of homegrown labels that regularly compete with global ones for a share of the spotlight.

If you want to dedicate more of your wardrobe to local Fashion brands, this guide should provide the perfect starting point. In it, we’ve put together some of the very finest labels Singapore can offer, with something for every taste and occasion.

Something to Hold

Looking for the best brands for women’s dresses? Here’s a local atelier that should be on your radar, then!

It was founded in 2021 by Lauren Tan, who also previously served as the creative director of Our Second Nature. The label is dedicated to crafting vintage-inspired pieces with sustainable and natural fabrics.

Something to Hold makes a point to create pieces only with fabrics from certified sustainable sources. This may make it especially appealing to those who want to be more conscious in their sartorial choices.

It’s also a label for those who want a rare balance: a touch of nostalgia paired with contemporary lines. This is more for those who prefer to look timeless instead of trendy, and who want considered and long-lasting additions to their wardrobe.

Love, Bonito

This is a label that’s certainly made a splash internationally. It began as Bonito Chico, a blogshop where its founders sold pre-loved clothing while at university.

Today, it’s one of the region’s biggest womenswear brands. You can see its pieces outside of Singapore, e.g. in Hong Kong, the Philippines, Cambodia, or Indonesia.

The brand still focuses chiefly on designing pieces for Asian women, taking into account their body proportions and skin tones. It also considers the realities of tropical weather.

As a result, many of its pieces are wonderfully versatile and machine-washable staples. Workhorses that you can take to the office or to brunch without worry, in other words.

Beyond the Vines

Established by a husband-and-wife duo with real estate backgrounds, Beyond the Vines is a renowned design house that is popular with locals and visitors from around the region. Its main offerings are ready-to-wear clothes that were born from a philosophy to create boldly yet design simply.

It also offers accessories and other lifestyle products. In fact, one of Southeast Asia’s favourite bags comes from this label: the Dumpling Bag, a soft and water-resistant nylon carryall.

In Good Company

In Good Company was founded by four friends who met while working on a now-defunct Singaporean fashion label.

The brand operates on the belief that less is more. You can see it embodied in their work: sharp and architectural silhouettes are everywhere in their collections.

This is one of the labels to consider if you want elevated classics with subtle structural details. The brand has been recognised as one of the most respected contemporary labels in the country, even winning fashion awards.

Note that while In Good Company’s core line is for womenswear, it actually carries menswear and a children’s range. The latter is called Mini Me.

Ong Shunmugam

Ong Shunmugam is another fascinating Singaporean label worth looking at. Founded in 210 by a former lawyer, it’s built around contemporary womenswear that seems driven by a lot of research and cultural dialogue.

You can find both off-the-rack and bespoke pieces in its collections. Asian textile techniques are also heavily represented, including batik and guipure lace.

This makes it another good option if you want clothes with deep meaning and that can explore themes of identity and heritage. It reaches even beyond Singapore in these themes, offering aesthetic journeys through design.
